When to sow
For best results, sow from March to May or August to October.
Where to sow
Choose open bare soil in sun or light partial shade. Remove existing grass and weeds before sowing.
How to sow
Remove existing grass and weeds to expose bare soil. Lightly rake the surface, scatter the seed evenly, then gently press or tread it into the soil. Do not bury the seed deeply.
Sowing rate
5 g per m².
Measurements and timings are only a guide. Growing is not an exact science, so do not worry if everything is not perfectly placed.
Keep damp while germinating, remove strong weeds and do not feed. Cut back after flowering once seed has fallen, then
remove the cuttings.
Flowering
From spring through late summer, with a changing display across the season.
Height
Approximately 20 cm to 1 metre.
What to expect
Annual flowers may appear first, while the grasses and perennial species create a fuller traditional meadow over later years.
Wildlife value
The flowers provide pollen and nectar for bees, butterflies, hoverflies and other visiting insects.
We want your seeds to grow. If you follow our sowing instructions, give them a fair chance, and they still do not grow, we’ll put it right.
Eligible customers can choose either a refund for the seeds that did not grow, or replacement seeds of the same value.
