'Bloom Or Bust' - The Shady Meadow 100% Wildflower Seed Mix

A shady patch is not a gardening failure. It is simply a different brief. Bloom Or Bust contains 15 hardy wildflower species selected for places with a mixture of sun and shade.

There are no added grasses, leaving more room for flowers in hedge lines, beside fences and in those awkward corners that spend half the day hiding from the sun.

This is a 100% wildflower mix.

When to sow
For best results, sow from March to May or August to October.

Where to sow
Choose bare soil in partial shade or an area receiving a mixture of sun and shade. Avoid deep permanent shade.

How to sow
Remove existing grass and weeds to expose bare soil. Lightly rake the surface, scatter the seed evenly, then gently press or tread it into the soil. Do not bury the seed deeply.

Sowing rate
3 g per m².

Measurements and timings are only a guide. Growing is not an exact science, so do not worry if everything is not perfectly placed.

Keep damp while seedlings establish, remove obvious weeds and do not feed. Leave some seed heads, then cut back after flowering.

Flowering
Late spring through summer.

Height
Around 20 cm to 1 metre.

What to expect
Some faster species may flower in the first year. The balance will depend on how much light reaches the site, with the fuller display developing over time.

Wildlife value
The flowers provide pollen and nectar for bees, butterflies, hoverflies and other visiting insects.
