Regular price
£2.99
Squash Red Kuri is a beautiful orange squash with sweet, nutty flesh and a smooth texture. It is excellent roasted, blended into soups, stuffed, added to curries or used in risotto. A handsome autumn crop with serious kitchen value.
Sow indoors - April to May
Sow outdoors - Late May to June, after the last frost
Sowing depth - Around 2 cm
Final spacing - Around 90 cm
Germination - Usually 7 to 14 days
Sow one seed per small pot and keep warm. Plant outside once the soil has warmed and the weather is settled.
These measurements are only a guide. Growing is not an exact science, so do not worry if every seed is not perfectly placed.
Grower tip: Once fruits begin forming, place a tile, board or layer of straw underneath them. This helps keep them away from damp soil.
Squash needs sun, warmth, space and rich soil. Water regularly and feed once fruits begin forming. The plants can sprawl, so give themroom. Place developing fruits on straw or a tile to keep them off wet soil.
Squash is best in open ground or large raised beds. It can grow in very large containers, but needs a lot of space and water. Use oneplant per large pot only if you have room for the vines to trail.
Harvest in autumn when the skin has hardened and the fruit is fully coloured. Cut with a short stem attached. Cure in a warm dry place before storing.
We want your seeds to grow. If you follow our sowing instructions, give them a fair chance, and they still do not grow, we’ll put it right.
Eligible customers can choose either a refund for the seeds that did not grow, or replacement seeds of the same value.
