Sowing

Sow indoors - February to June
Sow outdoors - March to July
Sowing depth - 0.5 cm to 1 cm
Final spacing - Around 20 cm
Germination - Usually 14 to 28 days

Sow thinly and keep the compost or soil moist. Parsley can take its time to appear, so do not give up on it too quickly.

These measurements are only a guide. Growing is not an exact science, so do not worry if every seed is not perfectly placed.

Grower tip: Soaking the seeds in lukewarm water overnight before sowing can help soften the seed coating and may speed up germination.

Growing

Parsley likes moisture, light and fertile soil. Water regularly and pick often. It can grow in sun or partial shade. Remove flowering stems if they appear, as the leaves become less useful once the plant bolts.

Pots & Space

Parsley grows very well in pots. Use a container at least 15 cm to 20 cm deep and place it on a sunny or lightly shaded windowsill, balcony or patio. Keep it watered for soft, fresh leaves.

Harvest

Pick outer stems from the base once the plant is established. Regular picking encourages fresh growth. Do not remove all the leaves at once.

No Grow, No Fee

We want your seeds to grow. If you follow our sowing instructions, give them a fair chance, and they still do not grow, we’ll put it right.

Eligible customers can choose either a refund for the seeds that did not grow, or replacement seeds of the same value.
