Chard Fireworks is a colourful leafy veg with bright stems and glossy green leaves. It brings colour to the garden and usefulness to the kitchen. Use young leaves in salads, or cook larger leaves like spinach. The stems are great sauteed, roasted or added to stir fries.

Grower tip: Each seed can produce more than one seedling. Thin out crowded plants and eat the young leaves rather than lettingthem go to waste.
Chard is easy, hardy and forgiving. Water during dry spells and remove older leaves if they get tired. It tolerates cooler weather well and can keep producing for a long season.
Chard grows well in pots and raised beds. Use a container at least 25 cm deep. For baby leaves, plants can be grown closer together. For larger leaves and stems, give each plant more space.
Pick young leaves as needed, or harvest larger outer leaves once the plant is established. Leave the centre of the plant to keep growing. Chard can crop for months with regular picking.
