Lady's Bedstraw Native Meadow Seeds
Lady's Bedstraw Native Meadow Seeds
Galium verum
Other names: cheese rennet, robin-run-the-hedge, maiden’s hair
Lady’s bedstraw is one of those flowers that has been so deeply intertwined with so much of human history. Even well into the twentieth century many people stuffed their mattresses with dried plants, Lady’s bedstraw is often what they used.
Legend has it that the original hay in the manager of Jesus Christ was lady’s bedstraw. And when the divine infant was laid upon it, the flowers blossomed and turned to gold.
Now we’re not suggesting you start sleeping on the stuff (memory foam has long since been invented!) but bringing a bit of divine blossom to your backyard is sure to turn it into your very own Garden of Eden.
How to Plant
Cheap and Easy Method:
Scatter the seeds directly onto bare soil. Clear the area of any debris and lightly rake the soil to create a loose surface. Evenly broadcast the seeds, then lightly rake again to ensure good seed-to-soil contact.
More Involved Method:
Use a terram membrane to suppress unwanted vegetation. Add a layer of soil over the membrane, sow the seeds evenly, and press them in gently.
