Shady Garden 100% Wildflower Seed Mix
Regular price
£20.99

For gardens where sunshine turns up late, leaves early or never commits. Shady Garden uses wildflowers suited to dappled light and partial shade.
With no added grasses, it is designed to bring flowers into hedge lines, fence edges and the brighter parts beneath trees without pretending deep darkness is secretly full sun.
This is a 100% wildflower mix.
Wildflowers included:
When to sow
For best results, sow from March to May or August to October.
Where to sow
Choose partial shade or dappled sunlight. Avoid deep shade where very little light reaches the soil.
How to sow
Remove existing grass and weeds to expose bare soil. Lightly rake the surface, scatter the seed evenly, then gently press or tread it into the soil. Do not bury the seed deeply.
Sowing rate
3 g per m².
Measurements and timings are only a guide. Growing is not an exact science, so do not worry if everything is not perfectly placed.
Keep damp during germination and dry spells. Remove obvious weeds, avoid feeding and cut back after flowering once seed has fallen.
Flowering
Mostly late spring through late summer.
Height
Around 30 cm to 1.2 metres.
What to expect
Red campion and vetches may establish early, while the complete display develops gradually. Results will be lighter in deeper shade.
Wildlife value
The flowers provide pollen and nectar for bees, butterflies, hoverflies and other visiting insects.
We want your seeds to grow. If you follow our sowing instructions, give them a fair chance, and they still do not grow, we’ll put it right.
Eligible customers can choose either a refund for the seeds that did not grow, or replacement seeds of the same value.
