Planting

When to sow
For best results, sow from March to May or August to October.

Where to sow
Choose open, sunny, exposed ground with free draining soil. Remove existing vegetation before sowing.

How to sow
Remove existing grass and weeds to expose bare soil. Lightly rake the surface, scatter the seed evenly, then gently press or tread it into the soil. Do not bury the seed deeply.

Sowing rate
3 g per m².

Measurements and timings are only a guide. Growing is not an exact science, so do not worry if everything is not perfectly placed.

Nurture

Keep damp while seedlings establish, especially during dry coastal winds. Do not feed. Leave some seed heads, then cut back and remove cuttings.

Results

Flowering
Late spring through late summer.

Height
Approximately 20 cm to 1 metre.

What to expect
The mixture should develop into a loose, natural coastal display. Many perennials will become stronger after their first season.

Wildlife value
The flowers provide pollen and nectar for bees, butterflies, hoverflies and other visiting insects.

No Grow, No Fee

We want your seeds to grow. If you follow our sowing instructions, give them a fair chance, and they still do not grow, we’ll put it right.

Eligible customers can choose either a refund for the seeds that did not grow, or replacement seeds of the same value.
