Acid Soils 100% Wildflower Seed Mix
Regular price
£22.99

Acid soil does not need fixing. It needs the right flowers. This 100% mix brings together wild species selected for lower pH ground, from betony and foxglove to devil’s bit scabious and wood sage.
With no added grasses, the focus stays firmly on flowers, colour and pollinator value.
This is a 100% wildflower mix.
Wildflowers included:
When to sow
For best results, sow from March to May or August to October.
Where to sow
Sow on bare acidic soil in sun or light partial shade. Avoid rich, heavily fertilised ground.
How to sow
Remove existing grass and weeds to expose bare soil. Lightly rake the surface, scatter the seed evenly, then gently press or tread it into the soil. Do not bury the seed deeply.
Sowing rate
3 g per m².
Measurements and timings are only a guide. Growing is not an exact science, so do not worry if everything is not perfectly placed.
Keep damp while seedlings establish and remove obvious weeds. Do not feed. Leave some seed heads, then cut back and
remove the cuttings after flowering.
Flowering
Mainly late spring through late summer.
Height
Around 20 cm to 1 metre.
What to expect
A few species may flower early, but many are perennial and will strengthen over several seasons. The display should become more settled and varied with time.
Wildlife value
The flowers provide pollen and nectar for bees, butterflies, hoverflies and other visiting insects.
We want your seeds to grow. If you follow our sowing instructions, give them a fair chance, and they still do not grow, we’ll put it right.
Eligible customers can choose either a refund for the seeds that did not grow, or replacement seeds of the same value.
