Regular price
£16.99

Some gardens are sweet. Some are sour. This one knows exactly what it is. Our Acid Soil 80/20 mix brings together wildflowers and meadow grasses chosen for naturally acidic ground.
It creates a more traditional, lasting meadow structure, with grasses weaving through flowers such as betony, foxglove, devil's bit scabious and yellow rattle.
This is a 80% wildflowers and 20% grasses mix.
Wildflowers included:
Grasses included:
When to sow
For best results, sow from March to May or August to October.
Where to sow
Sow on bare, acidic soil in sun or light partial shade. Avoid heavily fertilised ground and dense existing grass.
How to sow
Remove existing grass and weeds to expose bare soil. Lightly rake the surface, scatter the seed evenly, then gently press or tread it into the soil. Do not bury the seed deeply.
Sowing rate
5 g per m².
Measurements and timings are only a guide. Growing is not an exact science, so do not worry if everything is not perfectly placed.
Keep the surface damp during germination and remove obvious weeds. Do not feed. Cut the meadow back after flowering once seed has fallen, then remove the cuttings.
Flowering
Mainly from late spring to late summer.
Height
Approximately 20 cm to 1 metre.
What to expect
The grasses begin creating structure while perennial flowers establish gradually. Some species may flower in the first year, but the meadow should become fuller and more varied over several seasons.
Wildlife value
The flowers provide pollen and nectar for bees, butterflies, hoverflies and other visiting insects.
We want your seeds to grow. If you follow our sowing instructions, give them a fair chance, and they still do not grow, we’ll put it right.
Eligible customers can choose either a refund for the seeds that did not grow, or replacement seeds of the same value.
