Turf & Disorderly — Hardwearing Lawn Seed Mix

Regular price £10.99

No lawn order. Just rugged, revolutionary turf.

Turf & Disorderly is built for gardens that actually get used. Children, dogs, garden games, heavy footfall and the occasional badly judged slide tackle are all welcome.

The blend combines fast establishing perennial ryegrass with creeping and fine leaved fescues, plus Highland Bent for a denser finish. The result is a strong, practical lawn that still looks good once the action stops.

This is designed for regular use and wear. For a very fine ornamental lawn with little foot traffic, The Lawn Supremacy will be the better choice.

Sowing

Best sowing time: March to May, or August to October

New lawn sowing rate: 50 g per m²

Overseeding rate: 20 g to 30 g per m²

Sowing depth: Surface sow and lightly rake in

Remove weeds, stones and old grass before sowing a new lawn. Rake the soil to create a fine, level surface, scatter the seed evenly, then lightly rake or press it into the ground.

For overseeding, mow the existing lawn short, rake firmly to remove dead grass and expose some soil, then scatter the seed across the worn areas.

These measurements are a guide. Lawn growing is not an exact science, so a slightly uneven scatter is nothing to panic about.

Lawn tip: Divide the seed into two equal portions. Sow half while walking in one direction and the other half at right angles for more even coverage.

Aftercare

Keep the soil surface consistently damp while the seed germinates. Use a gentle spray so the seed is not washed into piles.

Avoid walking on the area while the young grass establishes. Make the first cut once the grass reaches around 7 cm to 8 cm, removing only the top third.

Continue mowing regularly, but avoid cutting extremely short. Feed during the growing season if the lawn begins to look pale or tired.

Results

Germination usually begins within 7 to 21 days in suitable conditions. Cooler weather may slow things down.

The lawn should develop into a dense, green surface with good resistance to wear and strong recovery after regular use. Full establishment takes longer than initial germination, so give it time before unleashing the garden Olympics.
