Best For
  • Budget lawn makeovers
  • Rental properties
  • First time lawn growers
  • Large areas where value matters
  • Repairing thin or bare lawns
  • Everyday gardens with moderate use

This is an excellent general purpose option. For very heavy wear, Turf & Disorderly offers greater durability.

Sowing

Best sowing time: March to May, or August to October

New lawn sowing rate: 50 g per m²

Overseeding rate: 20 g to 30 g per m²

Sowing depth: Surface sow and lightly rake in

Prepare bare soil by removing weeds, stones and old vegetation. Rake until the surface is fine and level, scatter the seed evenly, then gently rake or press it into contact with the soil.

When overseeding, mow the lawn short and rake away dead grass before scattering the seed over thin areas.

These measurements are a guide. You do not need to position every seed perfectly to grow a good lawn.

Lawn tip: Spend time preparing and levelling the soil. Good seed to soil contact often makes a bigger difference than expensive equipment.

Aftercare

Water gently and regularly until the seedlings are established. The surface should remain damp, but it should not become waterlogged.

Keep people and pets away from newly sown areas. Make the first cut when the grass reaches around 7 cm to 8 cm, taking off no more than one third of its height.

Reseed any obvious gaps once the first growth is established.

Results

Germination usually begins within 7 to 21 days, depending on soil temperature and moisture.

Low Dough Grow creates a practical, green lawn suitable for everyday gardens. It establishes relatively quickly and offers good value across both new lawns and patch repairs.

Good grass should not cost a fortune. Viva la value.
